LED Batten & Linear Lights for Supermarkets

20 W – 90 W · Ra ≥ 80 · Linkable end-to-end

KELVANO LED batten and linear lights are high-output, linkable fittings for supermarkets, aisles and warehouses. They run 20–90 W with on-fixture DIP-switch wattage (for example 18, 36 or 50 W from one body) and link end-to-end for continuous illuminated lines on a single supply. In the UK these are sold as batten lights; elsewhere as linear lights — the same fixture family. Measured IES files are available on request for our core SKUs, MOQ starts at 50 units, and quotes come back in 48 hours.

Batten vs linear: choosing the format

Both formats use the same LED and driver platform; the difference is the housing and where it is specified:

  • Standard batten — surface-mounted, IP20, the workhorse over shop floors, back-of-house and general commercial ceilings. DIP-switchable so one SKU covers several wattage zones.
  • Track linear — a slimmer continuous-line format for supermarkets and retail where a clean line matters over aisles and fresh zones.
  • IP65 tri-proof variant — the same output in a sealed body for car parks, cold stores, farms and wash-down areas.

Applications

  • Supermarkets & retail aisles — continuous linked lines at 750–1000 lx over shelving and fresh zones, one supply feed per run.
  • Warehouse & industrial — linkable linear and tri-proof over racking and picking aisles at 200–300 lx, alongside high bay.
  • Commercial interiors — general ambient layer across mixed-use commercial space.

A real example: a track-linear retrofit across a Poland supermarket chain, DIP-switched to 75 W, delivered a substantial energy saving versus the fluorescent battens it replaced.

Why buy batten & linear from KELVANO

The value in a linear rollout is standardisation. DIP-switch wattage means you specify one batten SKU for a whole estate and set output per zone on site — fewer part numbers to stock, one product to maintain. Add measured IES files for core SKUs, a named driver brand on the PI, and an IP65 variant for the damp zones, and a single supplier covers the whole ceiling. We supply this range factory-direct to UK and European supermarket, warehouse and wholesale buyers under a 5-year warranty.

FAQ

Product questions

Why do you call them batten lights and not linear lights?
In the UK trade, a surface-mounted linear LED fitting is a batten; the same product is called a linear light in much of Europe and North America. We supply both the standard batten format and a slimmer track-linear format. If you search 'batten', 'linear' or 'strip light', you are looking at the same fixture family — just tell us the market and we quote the right terminology and CCT for it.
How many battens can I link together?
The battens link end-to-end on a single supply run, which is what makes them efficient over supermarket aisles and warehouse racking — one feed, a continuous line, fewer connection points to install and inspect. The number you can link depends on total connected load; send us your run length on the RFQ and we will calculate the circuit.
What does DIP-switch wattage selection do?
A DIP switch on the fixture lets the installer set wattage and lumen output on site — for example 18 W, 36 W or 50 W from one body — so a single SKU covers several brightness requirements. That cuts the number of part numbers you stock and lets you standardise on one batten across a rollout while still hitting different lux targets per zone.
Are there IP65 versions for damp or cold areas?
Yes. For car parks, cold stores, farms and wash-down zones, use the IP65 tri-proof variant of the linear family (the German market knows these as Feuchtraumleuchten, 60/120/150 cm). The standard batten is IP20 for dry interiors. We match IP rating to the environment on qualified projects.
Can I replace old fluorescent battens with these?
Yes — this is one of the most common retrofits we supply. A DIP-switched LED batten typically delivers a substantial energy saving versus the fluorescent fitting it replaces, at equal or higher lux, and links on the existing ceiling grid. See our fluorescent-to-LED conversion guide for the calculation and mounting notes.
Do you provide IES files and emergency versions?
Measured IES/LDT files are available on request for our core SKUs, and a 3-hour self-contained emergency version is available for escape-route and open-area compliance under EN 50172. Request both on your RFQ.
