By KELVANO Lighting EngineeringLast reviewed

10 W / 15 W / 20 W / 25 W / 35 W · Ra ≥ 90 · 24° / 38° / 60°

KV-GD-101 is a recessed downlight whose head pulls out of the housing on a pivot arm and rotates, so the beam can be aimed at a wall or a display after the ceiling is closed. Five sizes from 10 W / 1450 lm to 35 W / 4800 lm, Ra ≥ 90, cut-outs Ø95 to Ø175 mm, round or square trim. It is the aimable fitting in the KELVANO downlight range, used for wall-wash and display accent where a fixed downlight can only light the floor.

How the pull-out head works

A fixed downlight points one way: straight down. This one does not. The head is carried on a pivot arm inside the housing, so it drops below the trim and turns on its own axis, and the beam reaches a wall, a shelf run or a cabinet that sits away from the ceiling opening.

That matters at the fit-out stage, because ceiling positions are set early and merchandise is not. A shop that moves a display wall does not have to move the fitting: the head is re-aimed from below, with the housing left where it is. The travel and rotation figures are confirmed per size on your quotation.

Round and square trim

The round trim is the standard version and suits plasterboard ceilings alongside round recessed downlights. The square trim is available for ceilings laid out on a square module, or where the rest of the scheme uses square trims and the ceiling has to read as one family. Square dimensions are on request.

Both trims use the same head and the same five sizes, so a scheme can mix them without changing the lamp type or the lumen package.

Where it fits

  • Retail walls and display runs: 15 W or 20 W at 24° picks out a feature wall or a shelf bay well above the sales-floor level.
  • Showrooms and galleries: the head turns to follow a display that moves, and Ra ≥ 90 keeps finishes and colours true.
  • Hotel lobbies and reception walls: 35 W reaches a tall wall from a high ceiling without a surface-mounted fitting on show.

For the fixed general-lighting layer on the same ceiling, use the anti-glare COB downlight. Where the head needs to drop below the ceiling on a yoke instead of a pivot arm, see the round grid downlight and the recessed tiltable downlight. The full range is on the LED downlights page, and the two-layer scheme it belongs to is set out in retail store lighting.

FAQ

Product questions

What is a pull-out gimbal downlight?
It is a recessed downlight whose head does not stay flush in the ceiling. The head sits on a pivot arm inside the housing, pulls out below the trim and rotates, so the beam can be aimed at a wall, a display or a feature after the ceiling is closed. KELVANO supplies it as the KV-GD-101 series, 10 W to 35 W.
How far does the head pull out, and how far does it rotate?
Both figures are confirmed on your quotation for the size you order. We publish only what the factory has given us in writing, and the travel and rotation figures are not among them yet.
Is it available with a square trim?
Yes. The round trim is standard and a square trim is available. Square dimensions are on request, so ask for them with your quotation.
When should I use this instead of a fixed recessed downlight?
Use a fixed recessed downlight for the general layer, pointing straight down. Use the pull-out gimbal where the ceiling grid does not line up with what you want lit: a wall, a shelf run, a display case or artwork. Most retail schemes use both, the fixed fitting for the floor and the gimbal for the vertical surfaces.
What is the minimum order?
Orders start from 50 units per SKU and scale to full project volumes. Send your ceiling plan or fixture schedule and we return a quotation with the matching sizes within 24 hours.
