Showroom Lighting for Cars, Furniture and Products

By KELVANO Lighting EngineeringLast reviewed

A showroom sells a small number of high-value products, so each one gets its own light: Ra 90 accent spots aimed at every car, sofa or display over an even base layer. Use wide 36°–60° beams to wash a whole car and 15°–24° for badges, wheels and detail. A zoom spot covers both from one fitting.

Showroom lighting puts its own light on every product: Ra 90 accent spots aimed at each car, sofa or display, over an even base layer, with fittings that re-aim whenever the layout changes. KELVANO supplies the track spots, zoom spots and grid downlights that showrooms depend on, with IES and LDT photometric files that can be measured for project specifications. We can prepare a lighting layout for qualified projects.

What a showroom needs from its lighting

Flexibility Displays change with every new model or season Track, zoom and grid fittings that re-aim by hand
No glare Customers look up at products and across reflective surfaces Deep-recessed and grille optics

Car showrooms

Cars have large, curved, reflective surfaces. A few strong spots create hard reflections; many softer sources create an even, glossy finish that shows the shape of the car.

  • Wash the whole car with wide beams, 36° to 60°, from several directions.
  • Pick out details such as badges, wheels and interiors with 15° to 24° beams.
  • Use a zoom spot where one fitting has to do both. The zoomable track spotlight adjusts from 15° to 60° on the head.
  • Keep reflections soft with grille fittings such as the double-row grille track light, which put many small sources in one body.

Furniture, kitchen and bathroom showrooms

These showrooms are built as room sets. Each set needs a base light that feels like a home and accent light on the products.

  • Warm colour temperature, 2700K to 3000K, makes room sets feel residential.
  • Aimable recessed spots such as the recessed tiltable downlight and round grid downlight light a sofa or worktop from a clean ceiling.
  • Track in open areas lets the team re-light a room set in minutes when it is rebuilt.

Product and brand showrooms

Electronics, fashion and brand showrooms often use a cooler, crisper light and tighter accent. The square grid downlight puts two aimable heads in one opening, so a single ceiling position can light a display table and a wall. For galleries and exhibitions, see gallery and museum lighting.

One model, set per display

Most of our track spot and downlight series can be supplied with a switch on the fixture that sets the power level and one of three colour temperatures on site, with dimming available alongside. A showroom can run warm light in the room sets and cooler light on a technology display from the same stocked model. The exact steps are confirmed per model on your quotation.

For optics by ceiling height, see the beam angle guide. For recommended light levels, see the lux levels guide.

FAQ

Questions from specifiers

What makes showroom lighting different from shop lighting?
A showroom sells a small number of high-value products, so each one needs its own light. That means more accent light, higher colour rendering and fittings that can be re-aimed every time a car, sofa or kitchen display is moved.
What colour rendering does a showroom need?
Ra 90 or higher. Paintwork, fabrics, wood and stone all shift colour under low-CRI light, and customers compare what they see in the showroom with daylight. Our track spots and grid downlights for showrooms are Ra 90 or higher on the series listed on the product pages.
Which beam angle suits a car showroom?
Wide beams, around 36° to 60°, for an even wash over the whole car, plus narrower beams around 15° to 24° for badges, wheels and interior details. A zoom spot covers both from one fitting. See the beam angle guide for spacing by ceiling height.
Can the lighting follow a changing display?
Yes. Track spots slide and re-aim by hand, zoom spots change beam angle on the head, and grid downlights rotate 350° and tilt 90°. When the display changes, the light moves with it without new wiring.
Do you supply full showroom projects?
Yes. Orders run from 50 units to full projects. Send your showroom plan and ceiling height and we return a fixture selection, with a quotation within 24 hours. We can prepare a lighting layout for qualified projects.
